On January 28th, 2020, Mwamba Co-founder and COO, Eduard Cornew, presented at a WGC led workshop exploring opportunities for positive engagement with Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASGM) communities globally.
“The World Gold Council (WGC) is the market development organization for the gold industry. Our purpose is to stimulate and sustain demand for gold, provide industry leadership, and be the global authority on the gold market.” -WGC
Eduard described Mwamba’s mercury eradicating and capacity building business model, promoting WAZI as a unique opportunity for large-scale mining corporations (LSMs) to participate in Mwamba’s impact and politically de-risk their large-scale mine developments abroad.
WAZI offers LSM’s a cost-effective means of supporting the ASGM development objectives of regional government in their operating environments. LSM’s can participate in Mwamba’s mercury eradicating and capacity building mission by posting processing capacity to the WAZI network. This contribution satisfies the Environmental and Social Good (ESG) requirements of LSMs and offers a sustainable expenditure for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budgets.
